Bats are an important part of Ohio's environment, providing natural pest control by eating thousands of insects each night. Bats also serve as pollinators. Habitat loss and disease threaten Ohio bat populations, making conservation efforts essential. Pike SWCD promotes bat conservation annually in October by hosting a coloring contest for first graders in Pike County.
